Seeing Stars Blanket

Seeing Stars Blanket by Lindsay Ingram
My best friend, Lindsay Ingram has a new pattern out with Spud and Chloe, and I can't wait anymore to share it with you all. Isn't it gorgeous?! 16 shades of Spud and Chloe sweater yarn are used to make this crochet hexagon blanket. Spud and Chloe are a fairly new yarn company and a sister brand to my personal favorite yarn Blue Sky Alpacas. All of Spud and Chloe's yarn is machine washable and comes in the absolute best colors.

The pattern includes 4 different blanket sizes, lap, twin, full and queen. The pattern is in color, so no guessing what color goes next, she maps it all out for you (picking what color to go next can sometimes take longer than actually using said color). She weaved in 2,776 ends in all for this blanket, and it was so worth it. Spud and Chloe now offers a downloadable pdf as well as a hard copy in an envelope, similar to a clothing pattern, which should be in stores now. I got an AUTOGRAPHED hard copy. Thanks Lindsay!

What I've been up to + giveaway reminder

I got a new sewing machine! Well new to me anyway. It's a Bernina 230 activa patchwork edition, I call her Rhonda. My local fabric store, Fabricland sent a card in the mail that they were selling off the machines used in the sewing school. This is the same exact model that my Mom bought 2 years ago and I've been using and loving. I knew I had to buy one for myself, and it was a really great deal.  I couldn't turn it down!

I bought this adorable vintage pattern on Ebay. I love the scalloped neckline. It's the perfect dress for engagement photos, or a party. I spent more than I wanted to on this pattern. What's the most you'll spend on a pattern?

I signed up for Gertie's online Bombshell Dress Course via Craftsy. Has anyone else signed up, it's fabulous, and well worth the money (it's half price). It's worth it just to see the adorable handmade outfits Gertie wears in each chapter! I think I can use this pattern and Gertie's tips to try and salvage my blue dress.

I've also been doing a little bit of knitting. This is the Valentine Cardigan from Spud and Chloe. I'm using madelinetosh merino light in this gorgeous tangerine color. I think i will make it a little shorter in the torso and perhaps smaller sleeves.

Also, don't forget to enter my giveaway! It ends this Thursday. Pin It Now!

Amsale Wedding Gown

I have fantastic news and I can't hold it in anymore! I won a wedding dress, but not just any wedding dress. AN AMSALE GOWN!! Amsale has always been my favorite wedding dress designer, all the dress are completely gorgeous. Anytime I've seen a gorgeous gown in a movie,a TV show or in print it has always been Amsale. 27 Dresses, When in Rome, Grey's Anatomy, The Hangover and Runaway Bride all featured beautiful Amsale dresses. America Ferrera just got married last weekend in a Christos by Amsale gown. I get to have one too!

We TV has a new wedding show Amsale Girls (Sunday nights at 10pm), which features the ladies that work in the Amsale flagship salon in NYC. It puts other wedding dress shows to shame. When they announced the show I was so excited to get an inside peek into these modern wedding dresses. Then I got engaged (yay!) and then they announced a dream dress giveaway, so I knew I had to enter. I started my twitter account and tweeted the message that popped up during the show, and the day after I got a message that I won. I still can't believe it! I get to go to the flagship salon on Madison ave and pick out a gown I love. My own personal couture!

Let's look at the dresses!

Blakely, Faille de Soie fabric (does anyone know what that means?)

Calista made of Windsor Duchess and Tulle.
Amelie made of silk faille and crystal buttons. I loved this dress since it was on an episode of My Fair Wedding, maybe two years ago.

Kendall dress made with silk radzmir, not sure what kind of silk that is either. So much to learn about fabric.
Aren't they gorgeous? All pictures are from the Amsale Website.

Be sure to watch it this Sunday July 3rd, and get a sneak peek into the Amsale Runway show, and hopefully some of the construction of the gowns. I'm not sure what I will choose, but I'm keeping my mind open, to see what looks best.
